La DRC est l\u2019arbitre auquel ont recours les parties lorsque la vente ou l\u2019achat ne s\u2019est pas d\u00e9roul\u00e9 comme pr\u00e9vu. Les membres adh\u00e8rent \u00e0 un ensemble de normes commerciales communes et ont la responsabilit\u00e9 de promouvoir un commerce juste et \u00e9quitable des fruits et l\u00e9gumes distribu\u00e9s dans les march\u00e9s nord-am\u00e9ricains. Au Canada, l\u2019adh\u00e9sion \u00e0 la DRC est une exigence r\u00e8glementaire pour \u00eatre autoris\u00e9 \u00e0 faire le commerce des fruits et l\u00e9gumes (c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire, en vendre, en acheter, en importer et en exporter) \u00e0 moins d\u2019en \u00eatre exempt\u00e9 par le R\u00e8glement. Aujourd\u2019hui, la DRC compte des membres dans 14 pays \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur de l\u2019Am\u00e9rique du Nord, et sa liste de membres continue de cro\u00eetre chaque ann\u00e9e. Quiconque exporte des fruits et l\u00e9gumes \u00e0 destination du Canada doit les vendre \u00e0 un membre de la DRC.<\/p>\n<p>En plus de ses r\u00e8gles d\u2019exploitation et de ses normes commerciales, la DRC offre \u00e0 ses membres un ensemble complet d\u2019outils adapt\u00e9s pour augmenter leurs connaissances et leur habilet\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00e9viter ou \u00e0 r\u00e9gler leurs diff\u00e9rends, y compris par le biais de l\u2019\u00e9ducation, de la m\u00e9diation et de l\u2019arbitrage. La DRC a le pouvoir d\u2019imposer des sanctions et des mesures disciplinaires contre les membres qui ne m\u00e8nent pas leurs affaires en accord avec les dispositions concernant l\u2019obtention et le maintien de la qualit\u00e9 de membre.<\/p>\n<p>Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, la DRC a aid\u00e9 au r\u00e8glement de r\u00e9clamations totalisant plus de 83 millions $ et bien qu\u2019elle offre des services d\u2019arbitrage, quelque 80\u00a0% de ces r\u00e9clamations, qui en moyenne se sont r\u00e9gl\u00e9es en 26 jours, l\u2019ont \u00e9t\u00e9 par la consultation informelle et la m\u00e9diation.
