Kevin Smith, Le vice-pr\u00e9sident des Op\u00e9rations \u00e0 la Corporation de r\u00e8glement des diff\u00e9rends dans les fruits et l\u00e9gumes (la DRC), a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 la 23e r\u00e9union du Comit\u00e9 du Codex sur les fruits et l\u00e9gumes frais (le CCFFV) tenue \u00e0 Mexico du 25 f\u00e9vrier au 1er mars derniers. Ces \u00e9v\u00e9nements jouent un r\u00f4le crucial dans la strat\u00e9gie d\u2019engagement international de la DRC.<\/p>\n

Le Codex Alimentarius est un organisme qui d\u00e9termine des normes internationales et les textes connexes visant \u00e0 prot\u00e9ger la sant\u00e9 des consommateurs et \u00e0 assurer des pratiques \u00e9quitables dans le commerce des aliments. Le Codex guide l\u2019\u00e9tablissement des exigences relatives aux aliments de mani\u00e8re \u00e0 mieux soutenir le commerce international.<\/p>\n

Le CCFFV \u00e9labore des normes particuli\u00e8res aux fruits et l\u00e9gumes frais. Par le pass\u00e9, la DRC participait aux rencontres du CCFFV comme membre de la d\u00e9l\u00e9gation canadienne. Or, cette fois-ci, reconnaissant l\u2019\u00e9largissement de la comp\u00e9tence de la DRC au-del\u00e0 des fronti\u00e8res de l\u2019Am\u00e9rique du Nord, nous y \u00e9tions convi\u00e9 \u00e0 titre d\u2019observateur officiel et avons pris part aux discussions avec les d\u00e9l\u00e9gations gouvernementales et les autres observateurs comme l\u2019Organisation de coop\u00e9ration de d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomiques (l\u2019OCDE) et la Commission \u00e9conomique des Nations Unies pour l’Europe (la CEE-ONU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
